Introducing PhillyFABB

November 6, 2012

I was so honored to be invited to PhillyFABB’s inagural event, the Blogger Blowout Bash last week.  PhillyFABB is the new network for fashion and beauty bloggers in the Philadelphia area, where we bloggers got to meet, mingle and enjoy some girly spa services at the Andre Richard Salon in center city.

Just arrived, introductions and exchanging business cards (my back is to the camera!)

Talking biznass…we look so serious!  I promise it was fun.

You can’t go wrong with cupcakes – ever! Nom nom nom.

Pampered with gel manicures!  Here’s Chrisi’s hand (of Oh Hey Chrisi) with aubergine gels and forest green pointer finger! Thanks to doorBella for the manis – LOVE.

Getting a makeup lesson from Meghan Cox!  She was schooling me on makeup brush selection…who knew it was so complicated?

With PhillyFABB co-counders Lauren of The Style Darling and Jessie Holeva of TrendHungry.  Both so sweet! :)

Chrisi and I really hit it off…look for this girl modeling on TV!   Also I don’t have any pics of my cute ring I made with Simply Adeline, but that was so fun!  Look her up and hire her for a girls’ night of designing your own jewelry!

I’m not one to pimp out a swag bag, but thank you to:

Election Day

November 6, 2012

Happy election day!  This is a cell phone snap of my “I voted today!” sticker (on my favorite scarf of the moment).  I love the excitement of election day; people’s passionate beliefs are tandem with the whole country just wanting a better tomorrow.  I love democracy in action!

May the best man win…and here’s to a woman winning in 2016!

Red Carpet Interview with Kevin James

October 9, 2012

Dream come true – another red carpet interview!  This time I got to interview Kevin James at the Philadelphia premiere of his new movie, “Here Comes The Boom.”  Check it out!

Philadelphia Film Festival is Announced!

October 1, 2012

Last week I got to attend the Kick-Off Party for the Philadelphia Film Festival, and was so excited to hear about the festival’s line up!  It doesn’t get any bigger than…Bradley Cooper!  Ya know, just the Sexiest Man Alive.

The festival opens on October 18 with Silver Linings Playbook, starring Cooper and Hollywood’s IT Girl, Jennifer Lawrence.   The film got rave reviews since being screened at the Toronto Film Festival AND won the People’s Choice Award! Lucky for us  Philadelphians, it was also filmed locally and actually takes place locally. There’s already a lot of Oscar buzz surrounding this one – watch the trailer below and see for yourself why!

There’s lots of cool stuff to see at this year’s festival, and you can get all the info here!  Horror flicks, a from-the-vault series, a VIP lounge and even free movies!

Closing night promises to be another event to be talked about long after it’s over; Denzel Washington stars in “Flight” to be screened on October 27, with its Oscar-winning director Robert Zemeckis to attend.  Here’s hoping Denzel also shows ;)

Glee Does Britney Again, Emmys This Sunday

September 21, 2012

What did everyone think of Glee’s Britney 2.0 episode last night?  I loved all the Britney songs, and thought they did a great job weaving the story together with the set list.  There were some great mash-ups; Marley and Jacob singing “Drive Me Crazy” and Aerosmith’s “Crazy” together, and Blaine and Artie doing “Boys” along with “Boyfriend” by Biebs.  What did you think?

I’m so excited for Sunday’s Emmys!  Obviously the red carpet is an event in itself, but I’m rooting for the cast of Modern Family of course, and hoping Lena Dunham takes home some hardware for “Girls” on HBO.  Who are you rooting for?

What I’m Watching: Glee Season 4 Premiere

September 13, 2012

It’s finally here!  No more guessing, wondering, and putting together clues from Ryan Murphy’s Twitter feed; Glee’s much-anticipated fourth season premieres tonight!

For more on this season, head to Positively Celebrity for my break down on this year’s cast.

I can’t wait to see Kate Hudson in her new role, and see where everyone is in their new lives!  Do I even have room in my heart for all of the new characters entering?  We shall see!

What are you most looking forward to this season on Glee?

The Voice Auditions

September 10, 2012
tags: ,

NBC’s The Voice returns tonight at 8/7c, the first of a three-night premiere, and Meggywood just happens to have a little inside info for you!

Meggywood interviewed auditioner Adam Jennings, a PA native who traveled to East Rutherford, New Jersey on July 22 for his shot at a chance to make it on The Voice.  Here’s what he experienced as a hopeful!

MW: When did you start singing and playing guitar?  Why?

AJ: I started playing guitar when I was about 18. I’ve been singing forever and I guess I played guitar because my older brother Scott played a lil bit and I liked it.

MW: What made you want to audition for The Voice?

AJ: My friends talked me into auditioning. I never really had the confidence to do anything like that but my best friend Mark talked me into it.

MW: Walk us through the day of the audition.

AJ: Well the audition was at the Izod center in EasT Rutherford, NJ. I waited in line for about four hours and when inside, was split up to seperate entrances going into the actual arena area. I reached the booth and went inside to two judges who I sang for. After that I just left and drove home.

MW: Were you nervous or excited?  How did you feel?

AJ: I was extremely nervous and excited. I didn’t know what to expect at all but I prepared myself for whatever the outcome would be.

MW: Who was “judging” at the audition? What was their reaction, what did they say?

AJ: The judges never introduced themselves actually. If they did I was so nervous at that point that I didn’t even hear them. It was a women and a man probably a little older than myself. They asked me my name, where I’m from, and why I think I can be The Voice. After I sang they told me that I did great and they liked the tone and edge to my voice. The woman also liked my look; just white jeans and a red t-shirt.

MW: Would you ever audition again?  What about for another show?

AJ:  I will definitely audition again and it will be for The Voice for sure. I am going to get some voice lessons and be better prepared since I went through the process once already. I loved the feeling of hearing them say they liked me so hopefully next time I’ll make it through!

Thanks for sharing your experience with us Adam!  Check out a video below of what Adam sang for his audition, and tune in tonight at 8/7c for the season premiere of The Voice!
